User Manager - Add or Edit Users

This screen is used to either add a new user or edit an existing one.

Toolbar Icons

Save: Lets save the creation/modification and return to User Manager.

Apply: Saves the creation/modification and keeps the screen open for editing.

Cancel: Cancels the action and lets the User checked-in.

User Details

Name: Type here the name of the user as it will be listed in the User Manager.

Username: Type here The Username as it has to be entered for login.

Email: Type here the user's e-mail adress.

New Password: Type here the user's password. If you want to change a user's password you can enter here the new one, and retype it on the next field.

Verify Password: Type here the user's password.

Group: Choose here a type of user. Please see below for detailed information.


Block User: Prevents or lets user login.

Receive Submission Emails: Enable or not an e-mail be sent to the administrator when the user has submitted some content.

Register Date: Displays the date the user has been registered.

Last Visit Date: Displays the date on which this user has last logged in.

Contact Information

These informations are only present when editing a user and only if the contact has been created in the Contacts Component and linked to the user (Components -> Contact -> Manage Contacts). If this has been done the information will be displayed and a link at the bottom of the box provides a direct access to the Edit Contact page for that contact.

Access Control Levels

Registered users of a Mambo site belong to several groups. These groups are divided into two main gategories: Frontend and Backend. Users belonging to Frontend groups have only access to the Front end. Users belonging to Backend groups have only access both to the Front end and to the Back end.

Groups, are the way Mambo uses to set priviliges and access rights to users. Based on them, users, can view, have access to info for registered users, or edit/add/delete content using the frontend or backend interface. 

Frontend groups

Registered - This group allows the user to login to the Frontend interface.

Author - This group allows a user to post content, usually via a link in the User Menu.

Editor - This group allows a user to post and edit any content item from the Frontend.

Publisher - This group allows a user to post, edit and publish any content item from the Frontend.

Backend groups or Administration section groups

Manager- This group allows access to content creation and system information.
Administration Menus accessed:

Administrator - This group allows access to most administration functions.
All functions accessed by Manager, plus:

Super Administrator - This group allows access to all administration functions.
